We moved into our apartment today. And by ‘moved in’ I mean dumped our stuff. It needs to be cleaned (a lot) and we have no furniture. But, y’know, soon. It’s nice, at least, not to have to lock my suitcase every time I leave the room, or glare at anyone around who I deem to be looking shifty.
Martha’s Vineyard was just gorgeous. All we did was get sunburnt, loiter on the beach and nose through the shops, mostly without buying anything. (Though I did go on a stupid book/CD binge. Election by Tom Perrotta, The Avalanche by Sufjan Stevens and I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning by Bright Eyes, in case you’re interested.) The last day we were there, I decided to head off for a spin on a rented bike. Ended up going sixteen miles – my legs still throb. It was beautiful though, one road went all along the coast. I kept jumping off my bike to take pictures, until it got to the point when I was getting off every ten seconds, which was kind of ridiculous, so I just cycled.
I’ll post some of those pictures soon, and maybe some of the apartment too. Once it’s clean.
I’d love to have a goo at the apartment, do post some pics! You could take Before and After shots. Ooh, and action shots of you and the girls brandishing mops and feather dusters, lol!
As for the no furniture, y’all should so get beanbag chairs. They would be very fun. And beany.
What – no pictures? Can ye still be cleaning?! Hey I may have a great part-time job for you on your return next Jan – conveniently located in south Dublin!!!
By the by, street corners & skips are always good places for furniture “shopping” – particularly if you gotta keep feeding that cd/book habit of yours…
Haha, you guys.
Overcoming the furniture problem with stuff from skips and the side of the road. (Or Dumpster and sidewalk as I’m supposed to be saying.) So far we’ve pilfered couch cushions, a kitchen chair, and an old leather chair that looks like an upturned catcher’s mitt. Snazzy!
